Welcome to the Manor

When I was a little girl I would sit in the bathroom as my mother bathed. I was 1 of 6 children so finding time for my mother’s undivided attention was a craft of its own. I’d sit on the floor in the bathroom, sometimes in silence and other times going on and on about my day. As I sat I would pay attention to how she’d relaxed into her tub, the way she’d prop her foot on the side of the tub to shave her leg, how she’d cup the water up her arm and over her shoulder. Sometimes she’d step into the water and say, “Ooo this bath water is perfect! Feel how perfect it is.” I’d stick my little hand into the water and more often than not it would be just as perfect as she had described.
When my mother was ready to get out of the bath she’d tell me to hand her the towel so she could dry off. After drying off she’d always step to her bathroom vanity to lotion her body before going into the bedroom to dress herself. I’d follow behind her from place to place, paying attention to how she paid attention to every detail.
My mother would often times tell me about her grandmother Mattie Myrtle Mouton and how she was quite the particular woman. A southern belle straight from Louisiana. Mattie had a few key rules:
- never sleep naked because if there is an emergency in the middle of the night you need to be able to rush out
and
- always put your best foot forward in all that you do.
While I grew up in a few different houses, I was raised in one home. One manor. Mouton Manor. My great-grandmother so heavily influenced the woman my mother became and in turn she influenced the woman I have become. Throughout my life my mother would tell me and my siblings, “Look like you care. Act like you care.” So with everything I do it is done with care. From the way I bathe myself, to the way my home smells, to the way I make my bed every morning, it is done with care.
I’ve gone on in life to become a life coach. In my practice I implement the life lessons I’ve learned growing up in the Manor. I teach my clients that self-care and mental health are the MOST valuable things you can tend to. You must take care of your mind, body, and soul before you can care for others. Even if the only time you have to yourself is taking a bath or lighting a candle. Make it an experience.
Mouton Manor is home for any and everyone. Mouton Manor is a place where you can rest assured that you will find nothing but the best of care. Mouton Manor is an experience every person deserves to have. Generations of excellence awaits you and your heirs. Mrs. Mattie Myrtle Mouton was, so that we can be… Welcome to Mouton Manor.
